Stephen Harper Taken Out of Context, the CBC
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDw5a0_iFBk
This video shows how a news reporter can prejudice her viewers by only showing parts of an interview. The reporter Christina Lawand cites Prime Minister Harper. “I’m not concerned,” right after a clip of a woman wanting the deaths of innocent civilians to cease. This clearly makes Harper look cold-hearted. The youtube video goes on to show the full interview where Harper, the stateman that he is, answers carefully, diplomatically, even handedly. Christina Lawand, you can do better than that.

Stephen Harper on Mike Duffy Live Feb 20 2007
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M22Exz_7aTw
Mike Duffy interviews the PM for ten minutes. His lead question asks Mr. Harper about his visit with Bill Gates. This video illustrates Mike Duffy’s respectful style as well as Stephen Harper’s ability to think on his feet and say what he wants to say while side-stepping some of Mr. Duffy’s probing questions.

Stephen Harper in Cyprus – Canadians Board PM’s Plane
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OK6U9dtSgJ8
Prime Minister Harper hops aboard his plane and goes to Cyprus to help bring home stranded Canadians. In yesteryear, he would have been on his white steed.
Mr. Harper can be see only for a few moments. He stands with the others waiting. I like Harper’s “get involved” style. Yes, it makes good press and PR. It also makes good business, i.e. Management Byby Wandering Around. It certainly must be educational for him, as the leader of the country.

Stephen Harper and the Quebecois Nation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwf44j6sWws
This video provides a record of Mr. Harper’s thinking on the Quebecois as a nation within Canada. He works from a dictionary definition of “nation” meaning a definable ethnic and cultural group. There seems to be some logical confusion. He speaks of the Quebec national assembly defining its role within Canada and yet he speaks of identifying not Quebec, but the Quebecois as a nation. This seems to leave out non-Quebecois Quebecers.
